John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts

The Kennedy Center is located in the capital of the United States on the banks of the Potomac River in Washington, D.C. It is not only the nation’s theater, but one that is recognized all over the world for its mission in making the arts accessible for everyone. Along with the resident National Symphony Orchestra and Washington National Opera, The Kennedy Center is host to international ballet, dance, theater, and music companies. Several festivals are held here and commitment to exposing youth to the performing arts is taken into consideration in annual programming.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts was built as a living memorial to the 35th President of the United States for his lifelong dedication to the arts. “The life of the arts, far from being an interruption, a distraction, in the life of the nation, is close to the center of a nation’s purpose – and is a test to the quality of a nation’s civilization.” – John F. Kennedy
