Current Principal Dancer of Birmingham Royal Ballet, César Morales, will become the fifth leader of Santiago Ballet in March 2024 when he takes on the role of Artistic Director.

Morales will dance one last time with frequent partner Miki Mizutani in The Sleeping Beauty on February 22, and then take his final bow with the company on February 28.

About César Morales
César Morales was student of the Santiago Municipal Theatre Ballet School and former member of the Santiago Ballet, where he rose to the rank of Principal at just 18 years old.
Morales joined Birmingham Royal Ballet in 2008 after his time at English National Ballet.
In 2021 he was awarded the Dancing Times Award for Best Male Dancer at the National Dance Awards.
During his 16-year career with BRB, Morales danced leading roles in
- Sir Peter Wright’s The Nutcracker (Prince), The Sleeping Beauty (Prince Florimund), and Swan Lake (Prince Siegfried)
- Frederick Ashton’s Enigma Variations (Arthur Troyte Griffith), Symphonic Variations, and Les Rendezvous (lead role)
- George Balanchine’s Serenade and Theme and Variations.
He also collaborated with Sir David Bintley, former Artistic Director of Birmingham Royal Ballet, on new productions including Beauty and the Beast (Beast), Aladdin (title role), Sylvia (Amynta), Cinderella (Prince), and ‘Still Life’ at the Penguin Café (Southern Cape Zebra).
