For two performances only and accompanied by live orchestra, Avant Chamber Ballet will present three majestic ballets at Moody Performance Hall – Walpurgisnacht Ballet, Swan Lake, and Romeo & Juliet. Choreographed by George Balanchine, Katie Puder, and Paul Mejia, respectively, these pieces capture the themes of romance, enchantment, love, and sacrifice.

“Any ballet company in the world would be proud of the repertoire program like this one,” emphasized Katie Puder, Artistic Director of Avant Chamber Ballet.

The evening opens with Walpurgisnacht Ballet which features a cast of twenty-four women “soaring across the stage with wild abandon” to the music of Charles Gounod.

Following are two of classical ballet’s most recognized works. Puder stages the second act of Swan Lake, filling the stage with dozens of iconic white swans and the theater with the unmistakeable notes of Tchaikovsky. Mejia’s version of Romeo & Juliet is also set to Tchaikovsky and tells the tragic tale from the perspective of Juliet during her final hours.
