Artistic Director of Boston Ballet Mikko Nissinen’s version of the ballet that epitomizes the classical, adds a prologue to Swan Lake that shows the transformation of a young woman into Odette thanks to the sorcery of Von Rothbart’s evil curse.

“Swan Lake is truly the ultimate experience when it comes to classical ballet.” said Artistic Director Mikko Nissinen. “The production showcases a timeless story, physical and emotional depth, with powerful opposing themes. I am excited to bring Swan Lake to today’s audiences to experience the timeless relevance of this masterwork.”

The dancers will be accompanied by Tchaikovsky’s timeless score played by the Boston Ballet Orchestra and conducted by either Boston Ballet’s Music Director Mischa Santora or Associate Conductor Alyssa Wang during the sixteen-performance run at Citizens Opera House.
