Choreographer: Christopher Wheeldon
Christopher Wheeldon’s The Nutcracker, which takes place during the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair, is set to return to the Lyric Opera House – for which it was adjusted two years ago – for a 25-performance run.
Along with highlighting the city’s cultural history and Tchaikovsky’s iconic score played by Lyric Opera Orchestra, conducted by Scott Speck, Music Director of Joffrey Ballet, the production features an award-winning creative team including Julian Crouch, Brian Selznick, Basil Twist, Natasha Katz, and Ben Pearcy/59 Productions.
“This glorious production only gets better with time. Now, seven years since its debut, the holiday magic of the Joffrey’s Nutcracker by Christopher Wheeldon is perhaps more poignant than ever, a Chicago story of family and adventure. But more than anything, it is an homage to a city we deeply cherish, and we look forward to celebrating another incomparable holiday season.”
– Ashley Wheater, Artistic Director of Joffrey Ballet
