Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre 2024-2025 Season
The Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre 2024-2025 season, a celebration of the company’s 55th anniversary, features four full-length ballets and a mixed repertory program which showcase regional and world premieres.
“I am absolutely ecstatic about sharing my first full season of curated works for PBT. My goal, as demonstrated in next season’s selections, is to continue to present classical and contemporary ballets, as well as bring new signature works, choreographers and premieres to Pittsburgh audiences
I hope Pittsburghers will join in celebrating our Emerald Season!”
Adam W. McKinney, Artistic Director of Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre
The season is bookended by two ballets adapted from contemporary literature: Trey McIntyre’s Peter Pan, inspired by J. M. Barrie’s characters from Neverland, and Septime Webre’s The Wizard of Oz, based on L. Frank Baum’s novel of the same name.
The timeless Nutcracker (Terrence S. Orr) and Jean-Christophe Maillot’s contemporary version of Romeo & Juliet sandwich the Spring Mix program which has been curated in honor of the company’s special birthday.
Fittingly, the evening is highlighted by George Balanchine‘s Emeralds (a section from the full-length Jewels) and also includes Jorma Elo’s 1st Flash, Dwight Rhoden’s Ave Maria, a newly choreographed, world premiere of Rite of Spring by PBT Soloist William Moore, and another world premiere Caili Quan.
