American Ballet Theatre 2025 Summer Season
The American Ballet Theatre 2025 summer season, featuring five full-length productions from June 10 through July 19, 2025 at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City – and casting – has been announced by Artistic Director Susan Jaffe.

The Royal Ballet Principal Dancer Reese Clarke will join American Ballet Theatre as a Guest Artist dancing the role of Aminta in Sylvia opposite Principal Dancer Christine Shevchenko’s Sylvia on July 9 at 2:00pm and July 12 at 7:30pm .
Dutch National Ballet Principal Dance Olga Smirnova will perform as a Guest Artists in the title role of Giselle on June 21 at 7:30pm with Daniel Camargo as her Albrecht.
The season opens with the Swan Lake and also returns with a bonus week in July in celebration of the 25th anniversary of former Artistic Director of ABT Kevin McKenzie‘s version of this epitome of classical ballet. Scenery and costumes were designed by Zack Brown and lighting design by Duane Schuler.
Gillian Murphy will retire as Odette/Odile after a 29-year career with American Ballet Theatre.

The second program, Wayne McGregor’s Woolf Works, is inspired by Virginia Woolf’s novels Mrs. Dalloway, Orlando, and The Waves. The ballet features a score by Max Richter, set design by Ciguë, costume design by Moritz Junge, lighting design by Lucy Carter, video design by Ravi Deepres, sound design by Chris Ekers, make up by Kabuki, and dramaturgy by Uzma Hameed.

Giselle, the romantic ballet choreographed by Jean Coralli, Jules Perrot, and Marius Petipa and staged by Kevin McKenzie for ABT, marks the second classical work of the season. Adolphe Adam’s score is orchestrated by John Lanchbery, and scenery by Gianni Quaranta, costumes by Anna Anni, and lighting by Jennifer Tipton.
The June 27the performance will feature a toast for Hee Seo and Cory Stearns, both celebrating 20 years with ABT.

The New York premiere of Christopher Wheeldon’s “modern ballet classic” The Winter’s Tale follows. ABT will perform the company premiere of this work featuring music by Joby Talbot, set and costume design by Bob Crowley, lighting design by Natasha Katz, video design by Daniel Brodie, and silk design by Basil Twist at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in April 2025.

Closing the season sees the return of Sir Frederick Ashton’s Sylvia, staged by Christopher Newton, to American Ballet Theatre after nine years. Set in mythical Greece to music by Léo Delibes, the production also featured scenery and costumes by Christopher and Robin Ironside, with additional designs by Peter Farmer and lighting by Mark Jonathan.
