Later this month, Boston Ballet will return to Citizens Opera House to perform Mikko Nissinen’s The Nutcracker accompanied by the Boston Ballet Orchestra. Having premiered in 2012, this version of the holiday classic has become tradition for families as well as an introduction to those going to the ballet for the first time.
“At Boston Ballet, The Nutcracker is so much more than a holiday show,” said Artistic Director Mikko Nissinen. “This spectacular program includes some of the most technically challenging choreography in classical ballet that showcases the incredible talent of our world-class Company and Boston Ballet School students.
Led by Boston Ballet’s Music Director Mischa Santora, every single performance is accompanied by the Boston Ballet Orchestra—New England’s second largest—and Robert Perdziola’s beautiful sets and costumes elevate the entire experience.”
Alongside the 44-performance run, Boston Ballet will offer a sensory-friendly performance of The Nutcracker on Friday, December 6, a show that runs only 64-minutes and includes other in-theater activities.
