The decades old tradition of performing former PBT Artistic Director Terrence S. Orr’s version of The Nutcracker continues next month showcasing more than 100 dancers from both the company and the affiliated Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School.
Set in the Shadyside Neighborhood and inspired by its city, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre’s Nutcracker tells the familiar story of a special gift that Marie receives from her Uncle Drosselmeyer. As it unfolds, the young lady is taken along a journey through magical whirlwinds of snowflakes and to the Land of Enchantment.
“The Nutcracker is a magical experience for families every year,” said PBT executive director Nicholas Dragga. “The stunning costumes, beloved characters and Pittsburgh touches make this performance a beloved holiday tradition.”
The twenty performances ant the Benedum Center are complemented by other related events such as a family workshop, a Q&A sesión with company artists, and customized workshops for scouts.
