Choreographers: Val Caniparoli & Ma Cong
Val Caniparoli and Ma Cong’s The Nutcracker, created for Tulsa Ballet in 2021, returns to Tulsa Performing Arts Center next month as the company prepares for an eleven-performance run of this holiday classic.
“I am thrilled to share our Nutcracker production with our community. This new production both modernizes the look of the show, with moving scenery and suggestive projections, and brings it back to its traditional look and feel.” – Marcello Angelini, Artistic Director of Tulsa Ballet
Along with the company dancers, a cast of more than 100 local children will fill the stage set in 19th century Germany sharing the adventures of young Marie and the Nutcracker Prince through the Land of Snow and the Kingdom of Sweets.
Caniparoli adds, “We really created it for all ages. It’s magical and it’s for the young at heart. We want you to be able to bring your children and see it through the children’s eyes. I just really wanted it to be entertaining and go from generation to generation.”
As a compliment to the shows, matinee ballet lovers can add a Nutcracker Holiday Tea to their outing which includes snacks and photo opportunities with some members of the cast.
