PETER PAN
Choreographer: Trey McIntyre
More than twenty years after its premiere, Trey McIntyre’s Peter Pan returns to its birthplace, Portland, when Oregon Ballet Theatre presents the full-length ballet at Keller Auditorium from February 17 – 25, 2024.
McIntyre, OBT’s former resident choreographer reflects more on how he has reimagined his original concept – based on J.M. Barrie novel Peter and Wendy – for today’s audiences:
“If there’s something I want people to take away, it’s that regardless of where we’ve traveled in life or who we’ve become, we still have access to that childlike part of ourselves. It’s in there. And that’s why we go to the theater. I really hope that people can come into the theater with an open heart and let themselves go to that place.”
Dani Rowe, Oregon Ballet Theatre’s Artistic Director adds, “Trey McIntyre is a cherished figure in OBT’s history, having woven his artistic brilliance into the fabric of our company for many years. Our Peter Pan is a grand spectacle and one of the largest and most involved productions ever staged by OBT. This production promises to be a feast for the senses, captivating audiences of all ages with its comical flair, theatrical splendor, and a delightful ‘Broadway meets Ballet’ vibe.”
