The Tulsa Ballet 2020-2021 season has been announced and is programmed with both full-length classics and innovative new works.

The roadmap of each and every one of Tulsa Ballet’s seasons is dictated by our organization’s mission statement. It reads: Preserve the tradition of classical ballet, Promote the appreciation of contemporary dance, Create works of superior and enduring quality and Educate through exceptional dance training. While the last directive of our mission doesn’t necessarily apply to our ballet seasons, the other three are the true north that provides our direction.”

– Tulsa Ballet Artistic Director Marcello Angelini

The season launches with Creations in Studio K, September 17-27, 2020 featuring World Premieres by Australian born, New Zealand trained and Europe celebrated choreographer Craig Davidson, followed by a new work by former Boston Ballet‘s star, and Eric Bruhn Price recipient Yury Yanowsky. A World Premiere by Luciano Cannito, world renowned ballet choreographer, as well as opera and movie director, will round out the program.

Rescheduled from last season, Vendetta – Annabelle Lopez Ochoa’s new ballet – will appear in front of audiences October 29 – November 1, 2020. Full of red hot emotions like passion, anger, and greed and depicted through the beauty of dance, Vendetta is a thrilling show where Broadway meets film noir. Add in a touch of Moulin Rouge and a hint of Vaudeville, plus a lot of humor, and bada-bing! You’re guaranteed a captivating performance.

December 11-20, 2020 will mark the very last run of Angelini’s The Nutcracker, as a new version is prepared to launch in 2021 with all new sets, costumes, and story.

For the joy of classical ballet lovers, Swan Lake will return to the PAC’s stage on February 18-21, 2021, with its timeless splendor and brand-new sets and costumes.

The crown jewel of the season will be the Oklahoma Premiere of Derek Deane’s Alice in Wonderland, which promises to mesmerize and entertain the child and the child at heart in the audience. Filled with visually stunning and artistically captivating sets, costumes and choreography, Alice will debut at the Tulsa PAC on March 25-28, 2021.

Carmen, one of the most passionate, dramatic and turbulent love stories of the 19th century, will be presented on May 6-9, 2021. Mr. Angelini has commissioned this brand-new work to Tulsa Ballet Resident Choreographer Ma Cong, who will bring his signature dynamic choreography and dramatic sensibility to the score of George Bizet.

Tulsa Ballet II, the pre-professional ensemble of Tulsa Ballet, will inaugurate the 7th season of its own standalone mini-series with On Your Radar. This program will include the World Premiere of Ma Cong’s Jack and the Beanstalk, the second children’s ballet in a series of four commissioned by Mr. Angelini and made possible by the generous support of the Hardesty Foundation. TBII: Next Generation, also held in Studio K, will open on April 23-25th, 2021, and will include new works from up and coming choreographers.

Season Tickets are on sale now. Single Tickets for all shows will go on sale August 1, 2020. For more information on the Tulsa Ballet season, visit www.tulsaballet.org.
