Lauren Berlin, M.Ed., is a Philadelphia-based dance artist, writer, and longtime educator specializing in the intersection of dance and education. She contributes performance reviews, essays, and commentary to arts publications. A South Florida native and graduate of the nationally recognized Alexander W. Dreyfoos Jr. School of the Arts, she is a classically trained dancer, Boca Ballet Theatre alum, and former amateur ballroom competitor. She is a youth choreographer, dance director, and coach, having developed the first middle and high school dance programs in the school district of Palm Beach County. As a staff writer for thINKing DANCE, she has contributed performance reviews, essays, and interviews, bringing an insightful and nuanced perspective to the world of dance. Lauren has taught English and dance for over a decade to secondary students, adults, and primary learners. She holds a B.A. in English, two master’s degrees in Education from the University of Florida, and the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum designation.
