Boasting new sets designed by critically-acclaimed French artist and painter Alain Vaes, Ballet West’s Sleeping Beauty returns to Salt Lake City in just a few weeks.
For nine performances only, from February 10-18, Artistic Director Adam Sklute’s 2011 production comes alive again, this time adorning the first new sets in thirty years. Dramatic theatrical effects, pyro technical elements, and flying scenes will perfectly complement the costumes that David Heuvel designed over ten years ago.
The Sleeping Beauty Returns to Salt Lake City
Ballet West has presented three different versions of The Sleeping Beauty, the first one in 1986 by former Artistic Director Bruce Marks and produced by his successor, John Hart CBE. In 2000, former Artistic Director Jonas Kåge produced his own version. This was followed by Sklute’s with help from Principal Rehearsal Director Pamela Robinson-Harris and late Rehearsal Director Mark Goldweber.
