Boston Ballet 2024-2025 Season
The Boston Ballet 2024-2025 Season at Citizens Opera House features two Beantown premieres – Crystal Pite’s The Seasons’ Canon and Jean-Christophe Maillot’s Roméo et Juliette – as well as a world premiere by Principal Dancer Lia Cirio.
Maillot’s version of the classic Romeo and Juliet story features contemporary choreography with elements of cinematography that flows freely to allow the dancers to embody the full emotion of the characters.
Rounding out the season’s programming are Artistic Director Mikko Nissisnen’s classical The Nutcracker and Swan Lake as well as renowned neoclassical and contemporary repertory from some of ballet’s most recognized choreographers.

In the “Fall Experience” program, Pite’s The Seasons’ Canon, set to Max Richter’s rendition of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, runs with Sabrina Matthews’ Ein von Viel set to Bach’s Goldberg Variations, Jorma Elo’s Plan B set to the music of Von Biber, and Principal Dancer Lia Cirio’s (who celebrates her 20th year with Boston Ballet) second world premiere for the main stage.
The “Winter Experience” showcases George Balanchine‘s Mozartiana and Symphony in Three Movements with Claudia Schreier’s Slipstream (commissioned in 2022 for Boston Ballet’s ChoreograpHER program) and Leonid Yakobson’s Vestris (originally created for Mikhail Baryshnikov in 1969).
Mozartiana is set to Tchaikovsky’s Suite No. 4, Mozartiana, and Op.61 and opened at the 1981 Tchaikovsky Festival while Symphony in Three Movements is a large ensemble work that premiered on opening night of the 1972 Stravinsky Festival.
Two Jiří Kylián works – 27’52” and Petite Mort – join Nissinen’s reimagined Raymonda featuring rechoreographed sections by Florence Clerc, Alla Nikitina, and the Artistic Director himself in the “Spring Experience” program.
