New Ballet by Joaquin De Luz Premieres in December
Los Teatros del Canal in Madrid will be the site of a new ballet by Joaquin De Luz, Artistic Director, choreographer, and sometimes dancer of the Spanish National Dance Company (Compañía Nacional de Danza) titled Passengers Within.
Set to music by Philip Glass, Passengers Within is a reflection of today’s consumer and technologically dependent society. Eighteen dancers will bring to the stage how we become blind passengers in our own lives.
Also on the program is a world premiere by Italian choreographer Valentino Zucchetti, Where you are, I feel, “a celebration of flowing romance in all its facets”, as well as Ricardo Amarante’s piece, Love Fear Loss, based on Edith Piaf songs.
A Triple Program Featuring a New Ballet by Joaquin De Luz
“Once again the CND [Compañía Nacional de Danza] presents a program which demonstrates its versatility, talent and artistic quality. Three pieces that will take the public on a stylistic journey and from which everyone will surely take home something precious. This is my fourth season in charge of the Spanish National Dance Company. After these first three years, what we have sown is now bearing fruit. This process of unifying a company which was clearly split in two (contemporary and classical), thanks to the work in the studio and the additions to the repertoire, is a great achievement. I feel very proud and happy for what the dancers have achieved”.
