After their Nutcracker run comes to end early next year, The Northern Ballet prepares for The Great Gatsby, a ballet choreographed by former Artistic Director David Nixon CBE.
The spring tour begins in March of 2023 at Leeds Grand Theatre followed by several performances at Sheffield’s Lyceum Theatre and London’s Sadler’s Wells.
Inspired by F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel set in the Roaring Twenties, Nixon’s adaptation features sets by Jérôme Kaplan and Chanel-inspired costumes designed by Nixon himself. Sir Richard Rodney Bennett’s CBE’s score will be played live by the Northern Ballet Sinfonia.
Having premiered in 2013, this version of The Great Gatsby earned Nixon a nomination for Best Classical Choreography in the 2014 National Dance Awards.
