Shades of Spring headlines Program 4 of Sarasota Ballet’s 2022-2023 Season. A Jessica Lang piece commissioned for the company’s Joyce Theater performance this past summer, Shades of Spring is inspired by the natural world and is a collaborative effort along with visual artist Roxane Revon and costume designer Jillian Lewis.

Also on the program is a world premiere by company dancer Arcadian Broad titled Frequency Hurtz accompanied by a newly composed musical score centered around the Solfeggio frequencies and co-written by Jeremy Studinski and Broad himself. The work is “an exploration of how several factors such as age, genetics, and environment affect an individual’s auditory and visual realities”.
Façade, a Sir Frederick Ashton favorite, closes. Based on a collection of poems by Edith Sitwell with music composed by Sir William Walton, Sarasota Ballet has been performing this one-act ballet since 2008. Vignettes that portray popular styles of dance and music such as scotch rhapsody, jodelling song, polka, valse, tango, country dance, and foxtrot have been entertaining audiences since 1931.
