Houston Ballet will kick off its 2023-2024 season – Stanton Welch’s 20th Anniversary – with the highly-anticipated return of John Neumeier’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream from September 8th to 17th.
The season will also feature the Tutu Mixed Repertory program from September 21st to October 1st, which includes Stanton Welch’s Tu Tu, the Houston Ballet premiere of George Balanchine’s Stars and Stripes, and the world premiere of Annabelle Lopez Ochoa’s Delmira.
Delmira is inspired by the works of 20th-century Uruguayan poet Delmira Agustini and features a commissioned score by Colombian composer Juan Pablo Acosta, costumes by Mark Eric, and set and lighting design by Christopher Ash.
Welch, who is starting his 20th season as Artistic Director, will continue to bring well-known performances to Houston audiences. Julie Kent will be joining him as Artistic Director with a goal of showcasing exceptional shows and introducing up-and-coming choreographers.
