2019 Fall Gala Performance
This year, the 2019 Fall Gala will be held on October 16 and will honor the CEO of Celebrity Cruises, Lisa Lutoff-Perlo. Earlier this year, the cruise line and ABT announced a new partnership detailing the collaboration between the two companies. The Gala performance will feature a world premiere by Twyla Tharp set to String Quintet No. 2 in G major, Op. 111 by Johannes Brahms as well as a performance by students of the ABT JKO School, the feeder institution of the company.
Other Premieres
Company corps member Gemma Bond’s World Premiere set to Benjamin Britten’s Suite on English Folk Tunes for orchestra is the first she has created for ABT. And Jessica Lang’s Let me Sing Forevermore will have its New York Premiere; it was originally choreographed for Catherine Hurlin and Aran Bell for the Erik Bruhn Competition in Toronto this past March.
Revivals
There are a couple of ballets that return to the company’s repertory after years away. George Balanchine’s Apollo set to music by Stravinsky was last performed by ABT in 2012, and Clark Tippet’s Some Assembly Required set to music by William Bolcom was last danced by the company a decade ago.<
