On July 22, 2019, the David H. Koch Theater box office will start selling tickets to the American Ballet Theatre 2019 Fall Season which runs from October 16-27. The principal dancers this season include Stella Abrera, Isabella Boylston, Misty Copeland, Herman Cornejo, Sarah Lane, Alban Lendorf, Hee Seo, Christine Shevchenko, Cory Stearns, Devon Teuscher and James Whiteside.

2019 Fall Gala Performance

This year, the 2019 Fall Gala will be held on October 16 and will honor the CEO of Celebrity Cruises, Lisa Lutoff-Perlo. Earlier this year, the cruise line and ABT announced a new partnership detailing the collaboration between the two companies. The Gala performance will feature a world premiere by Twyla Tharp set to String Quintet No. 2 in G major, Op. 111 by Johannes Brahms as well as a performance by students of the ABT JKO School, the feeder institution of the company.

Other Premieres

Company corps member Gemma Bond’s World Premiere set to Benjamin Britten’s Suite on English Folk Tunes for orchestra is the first she has created for ABT. And Jessica Lang’s Let me Sing Forevermore will have its New York Premiere; it was originally choreographed for Catherine Hurlin and Aran Bell for the Erik Bruhn Competition in Toronto this past March.

Revivals

There are a couple of ballets that return to the company’s repertory after years away. George Balanchine’s Apollo set to music by Stravinsky was last performed by ABT in 2012, and Clark Tippet’s Some Assembly Required set to music by William Bolcom was last danced by the company a decade ago.<

Returning Repertory

  • Deuce Coupe by Twyla Tharp (ABT Premiere: May 30, 2019)
  • The Seasons by Alexei Ratmansky (World Premiere: May 20, 2019)
  • Garden Blue by Jessica Lang (World Premiere: October 18, 2018)
  • Dream within a Dream (deferred) by Michelle Dorrance (World Premiere: October 17, 2018)
  • Theme and Variations by George Balanchine (World Premiere: November 26, 1947)

Family-Friendly Matinee

On October 26, ABT will present a family-friendly program featuring works by George Balanchine, Gemma Bond, Jessica Lang, and Twyla Tharp. Children between the ages of 6 and 18 will receive 50% off their ticket price with the purchase of an adult ticket.

Herman Cornejo’s 20th Anniversary

Principal dancer Herman Cornejo celebrates his 20th year with ABT, and a program on October 26 featuring works by George Balanchine and Twyla Tharp will commemorate this special anniversary.
