Stuttgart Ballet’s Artistic Director Tamas Detrich announced, on stage, Mackenzie Brown’s promotion to principal dancer after her debut performance on October 22, 2023 as Juliet in John Cranko’s Romeo and Juliet.
“Mackenzie has a brilliant technique, a natiral acting talent as well as a stage presence that makes every performance a stellar event,” Detrich expressed.
This rising up the ranks has come quickly for Brown, who joined The Stuttgart Ballet in 2020 as a member of the corps de ballet upon graduation from the Académie de Danse Classique Princess Grace in Monte Carlo. In her second season with the company, she became a demi-soloist, and at the start of the 2022-2023 season, was elevated to soloist.
Along with roles created specifically for her by Mauro Bigonzetti, Alessandro Giaquinto, Vittoria Girelli, Marco Goecke, and Roman Novitsky, the Virginia (USA) native’s repertory with the company includes:
- Olga in Onegin (Cranko)
- Bianca and Pas de six in The Taming of the Shrew (Cranko)
- Aurora in The Sleeping Beauty (Haydée)
- Prudence Duvernoy in The Lady of the Camellias (Neumeier)
- Princess Louise in Mayerling (MacMillan)
